There’s a nice mix of housing choices on the island including dozens of condominium communities. Buyers searching for a perfect Gulf front beach residence with panoramic views will have many building options to explore. Some of the most popular buildings will be found clustered behind the gated entry of the Longboat Key Club, while many others will stand on their own throughout the 11 mile span of the island. Most condos will deliver a private beach experience with gated entry, yet the optional membership to the Longboat Key Club offers award-winning tennis, golf, and an abundance of social events.

If more peace and quiet is at the top of the “must have” list, the middle section and northern part of Longboat Key may be a great area to start your search. For convenience, a Publix grocery store is located in Bay Isles (located a couple miles from the south bridge in Longboat Key). Boaters will enjoy the marina membership available in Bay Isles on the east side of the island.

Longboat Key is a barrier island town spanning 10.8 miles, with the north bridge connecting to Coquina Beach in Manatee County, and the south bridge connecting to Lido Key in Sarasota County. Walkability in Longboat will be limited due to the length of the island. Biking is always an option but a car may be necessary.
Most Longboat Key condominiums have private beach access. There are also 11 public beach access points; however, there are no public facilities on Longboat Key beaches such lifeguards, public rest rooms, or concessions. The lack of public facilities lends to the beaches being more quiet and serene than Siesta or Lido.
There are condominiums that allow rentals but there are less weekly rental condos on Longboat Key than Lido Key and Siesta Key. Please verify all rental restrictions before purchase
